I.  SUBJECT:               English 9

                                    Buckle Down Reading

                                    Vocabulary Workshop

                                    Accelerated reading book

                                    Various novels

 

II.  COURSE DESCRIPTION

            1. A review of basic grammar and language usage

            2. PSSA reading skills

            3. Paragraph and composition writing

            4. Ten spelling, usage words per week

            5. Literary works

            6. Journal writing

            7. Accelerated reading

 

III.  YOU ARE EXPECTED TO:

            1. Have text, notebook, writing implement

            2. Arrive on time in an orderly fashion

            3. Take care of restroom needs before class

            4. Refrain from asking to leave class

            5. Listen, take notes, and complete every assignment

            6. Respect others and respect property

            7.  Remain in your assigned seat

 

NOTE:  Unsatisfactory behavior regarding the above will result in a disciplinary referral.

 

IV.  NINE WEEKS GRADE CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING:

            1. PSSA-type exams

            2. Quizzes

            3. Chapter/story tests

            4. Compositions

            5. Class grade (homework, classwork)

            6. Accelerated reading points

 

V.  Final test exemption is not allowed

 

VI.  No extra credit is available

 

VII.  Absences:  All make up work is due in the number of days that a student is absent

unless special circumstances apply.  For example, if a student is absent for two days, he or she will have two days upon return to school to complete and turn in make-up work.
