OVERVIEW

The purpose of this course is to provide a solid preparation for algebra and geometry.  There is an emphasis on mastery of basic skills, developing algebraic thinking, and making connections to geometry concepts.  Each lesson will contain problems that require critical thinking and written explanations.  Projects and activities will afford students a hands-on approach to learning and help to develop organizational skills and logical reasoning.  The course draws on students' prior knowledge and relates math to everyday lives.

A notebook is required.  Three ring binders are most convenient for students because there are many handouts.  There will be homework most days because it is extremely important to practice skills and concepts introduced in class.
