Grading and Expectations

EXPECTATIONS FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR

  1. Science text book must be covered
  2. No eating, gum chewing, or drinking in this class.
  3. Be on time.
  4. Be prepared for class.
  5. Raise your hand and wait to be recognized to speak.
  6. Homework must be tuned in the day it is due or the first day you return from an absence.
  7. It is your responsibility to obtain work from the day of an absence.
  8. If you are going on vacation you will receive missed assignments after you return.
  9. Safety is very important.
  10. Leave the room cleaner than you found it.

Grading System

            A marking period grade is based on the total number of points earned each marking period, divided by the total number of points.  Course grade is determined by adding four marking period grades and dividing by four.

TESTS- Each chapter may contain a test; it may consist of multiple choice, matching, true/false, short answer, or problems.  Each test is worth 100 points.

QUIZZES- (announced and unannounced) Quizzes vary in frequency and point values.

HOMEWORK- Homework is assigned periodically and checked frequently and is worth 10 points.

PROJECTS AND LABS- Assigned periodically.  Point value varies.
