 OVERVIEW OF COURSE:

 This course is designed to cover topics that impact teenagers’ lives in order for them to make educated financial decisions now and throughout their adult lives.  The material keeps up with our ever-changing economic and technological society and provides exposure to many different areas that are vital to your personal and economic success.

 **Career Decisions       **Money Management          **Financial Security

**Managing Credit         **Housing Options                **Insurances

**Entrepreneurship       **Driving Laws                      **Stock Market

BUSINESS CURRENT EVENTS:

Each marking period you will be required to complete five (5) Current Events dealing with business-related topics.  The sources can be newspapers, TV, internet or magazines.  Each current event is worth 20 points and will be completed on a form provided to you.  They can be handed in on a weekly basis however no more than two (2) per week can be turned in at any one time.

GRADING:

      A—90-100            

      B—80-89              

      C—70-79

      D—60-69 

      E—50-59*          

      F—  0-49

 Individual letter grades will be assigned in accordance with the grading policy adopted by the Palmerton Area School District and found in the student handbook.  A final exam will be given and count as 1/7 of your overall grade for the course with each marking period grade counting as 2/7 of your overall grade. Grades will be updated on Power School in a timely fashion so you know where you stand academically at all times throughout the course.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

**Arrive on time.  If late, bring a pass.

**If you miss an announced test you will make it up during enrichment or a zero
  will be given.

**A notebook, textbook, workbook and a pen or pencil will be needed every day.

**A calculator will be needed at times.

**Conduct yourself in a manner which allows ALL students to learn.

**No food or drink is allowed in the classroom.

**See student handbook for any items not covered here but which you are
   responsible for.
