Here are some ways that your parents can practice with you!

  • Practice skip counting in the car while you are waiting for the red light to change to green.
  • Use beans or buttons to show different ways to make the same number.
  • Use fractions to figure out how many slices of pizza each person in your family ate!
  • Play "I'm thinking of a number"  Say the number in extended form..."This number has 6 tens and 8 ones"
  • Have someone tell you an addition fact, and you tell them two related subtractions facts.
  • Use flash cards to practice your addition facts quickly.  Don't spend too much time practicing the ones you already know!
  • Estimate EVERYTHING around you! About how many cookies in the bag? About how many pennies in the pile? About how many steps to the front door?
  • Count the change your parent gets at the store.  Did they get the correct change?  How do you know?
  • Counting forward and backwards
