By the end of Second Grade, you will be expected to be able to:

  • Measure objects in different ways
  • Use measuring tools (ruler, scale, etc) to measure things correctly
  • Tell time on a clock to the nearest minute
  • Estimate measurements of length, weight, time, and capacity

Here are some fun game websites about Measurement that you might enjoy!

Here are some ways that your parents can practice with you:

  • Use rulers to measure things around your house--don't forget to line your ruler up to start at 0!!
  • Use your bathroom scale to measure things around your house--try estimating before you measure.
  • Have your parents always ask you what time it is on the clock--the more practice you get, the better you'll get!
  • Buy a watch so that you can always look at a clock.
  • When it's time to pack up the leftovers after dinner, estimate which container it will fit in.
