RULES AND EXPECTATIONS OF THE CLASSROOM

 Miss Kallas

BE ON TIME: Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings. If you come to class late please have a pass ready to give me. No excuses, if you are late and have no pass, you will be considered late. Be sure to check the board for any special instructions for the day.

BE POLITE: When a teacher (a substitute, guest, or myself) are speaking, you are not. Please raise your hand and wait to be called upon in order to ask a question or make a comment.

BE PREPARED: Always come prepared for class with the necessary supplies. Get your folder,  have a pen or pencil, and an always have positive attitude. Failure to do so will result in a lowered class participation/responsibility grade.

BE RESPONSIBLE: Come to class ready to work. Be sure to use all of your class time wisely. Most of the work that will be completed in this class must be done in the classroom. If you miss a class, you must get your assignment, complete it, and turn it in. All make-up work is due in the number of days that a student is absent unless special circumstances apply. Late assignments may be submitted for NO MORE than half credit.

RESPECT: We will respect each other, his/her opinions and comments, equipment, and materials in the classroom. We will communicate (verbal and nonverbal) using appropriate language only.

BREAKS: You will not be excused to go to the restroom or locker during class. Make any necessary stops before you get here or be prepared to wait until the last few minutes of the period. You must ask to leave the room and ALWAYS sign out and back in. You must also make sure to get a pass from me before you go!

NO FOOD OR DRINKS: This is a computer lab. There are to be NO food, candy, or any drinks in the classroom. You may chew gum if I do not see it, hear it, or find it.

ASSIGNED SEATS: You will have assigned seats. If there is a substitute or guest in the room it is important to be in your assigned seat or you will be marked absent. You are to stay in your seats until the teacher (guest, substitute, or I) gives you permission to move/get up. Also, do not tip back in your chairs! If I see you tipping on your chair you will lose the privilege of using a regular chair.

DO YOUR OWN WORK: Do not cheat, copy, or borrow someone else’s work. Unless I have assigned the work as a group project you are to be working independently. If caught, you will earn a zero on the assignment and will be written up.

VANDALISM: Misuse or damaging of the computer will not be tolerated. You have no need to move the CPU unit at all; however, you may move the mouse and keyboard on the desktop.

COMPUTER USAGE: You are only to be on the computer and the program or websites that are assigned in class. All computer usage rules apply that are in the Student Handbook. You are NOT allowed on the teacher’s computer and you are NOT allowed to touch the document camera or Smartboard unless permitted.

PRINTING: You must ask permission before you print ANYTHING, unless you are given permission before hand by the teacher.

ELECTRONICS: No cell phones will be permitted in the classroom. I will only give 2 warnings for these. This is your first warning! If I see a cell phone out they become mine. If you wish to listen to music while you are working on your projects (not while a lesson is being taught) you must use a music website that will create a play list for you and you must have headphones. If I see that the music privilege is being misused, EVERYONE will lose the privilege.

BEGINNING OF THE PERIOD: When entering the classroom: check the front for any special instructions, grab your book and folder, find your seat, log into the computer. You need to be ready to begin class after the bell rings. If you haven’t gathered everything, it will delay the start of class resulting in possible homework.

END OF THE PERIOD: Standing or lining up at the door at the end of the period is not permitted. The bell does not dismiss you, the teacher does. I will be sure to give you a few minutes at the end of each class to put away your materials and log off your computers to prepare to be dismissed.

SUBSTITUTE/GUESTS: Be on your best behavior when a substitute or another teacher is in the classroom for me! The above rules apply regardless of who is monitoring the class.

ALL RULES LISTED IN THE STUDENT HANDBOOK ALWAYS APPLY!!!!
