Group Counseling

Groups are held to help you improve your communication skills, handle emotions appropriately, resolve conflicts without violence, and take responsibility for your actions.  Groups also provide you with a a chance to talk, to listen and to support other students who are going through some of the same things you are.

These groups meet during the school day, once a week, during recess. Our Confidentiality Rule is ..."What's said in group, stays in group."  All group members are required to keep this rule by NOT repeating what others say aoubt themselves or their lives.

If you think you would like to be part of a support group, talk with Ms. Prushinski.

The only time the counselor would need to share your information, is if you tell her that someone is hurting you, or you are thinking about hurting yourself or someone else; then the counselor can get you the extra help you need!

Support groups are not intended to take the place of professional counseling or therapy.  These groups are not to "treat" or "diagnose" a condition.
