COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Honors United States History provides the student atPantherValleyHigh Schoolwith the opportunity to study, in depth, the events that shaped our Nation. The course is designed to cover the significant political, social, economic, and ideological developments that lead to the foundation of theUnited States of America; beginning at the American Revolution and continuing to the present day. Current events will also be discussed as part of the course curriculum. The course will be based on class reading, class discussions and note taking.

STUDENT OBJECTIVES:

  • Analyze and explain the significant historical events and individuals that have shaped theUnited States.
  • Evaluate how conflict and cooperation have impactedUnited Stateshistory.
  • Analyze and discuss current events in theUnited Statesand the world.
  • Complete reading and writing assignments, participate in class discussions and complete quizzes and tests.

 

GRADING:

  • All tests will counts as 50% of your grade.
  • One major paper per marking period will count as 20% of your grade.
  • Class discussion and participation will count as 15% of your grade.
  • All assignments will count as 15% of your grade.
