Preview the question.  Underline key words and important pieces of the question.

P  What is the question really asking you?  Rewrite the questions if necessary.

      Read all parts of the text.  Do not skip photos, captions, charts, timelines, etc.
R  All parts of the text are important.

O  Make sure you return to questions and eliminate answers that are obviously incorrect.

      Underline the support evidence within the passage that supports the answer you intend to

V    choose.  Put the corresponding question number next to underlined proof to help with             

       double checking.

E    If necessary, write the evidence in the margin.  Explain WHY you are choosing one answer

           and not the other.
