10th Grade Strength Training Requirements

  1.    There are 2 workouts lettered “A” and
“B”.  The objective is to understand each
component of each workout and be able to demonstrate this understanding during
class.  You will be graded using a
pre-determined rubric for comprehension and progress throughout the year.  Each workout will be alternated in 4 week
cycles which will be kept within your individual folder.  Please keep this folder up to date and fill
in the required information as you complete the exercise.  Each individual will have a folder to record
their progress, please keep it neat and updated for I will evaluate them from
time to time throughout the marking period.
  2.    ALWAYS work with a partner as a
spotter.  That means no groups of
three.  Pick a partner and use them for
the year for they will be able to encourage and help you throughout the year.  You must always participate during class in
some manner even if you have a sporting event that day.  Options for activities to substitute lifting
will be discussed your first activity class.
  3. GIRLS:  Check the board in the girl’s locker room for
workout information for the scheduled class.
Your folders will be there and should be returned there at the end of
the class.  BOYS:  Your folders and information for the class
will be in the weight room on top of the metal cabinet.  Please return your folders there at the end
of class.  PLEASE be sure to get your
folders at the beginning of class each day for that is how I take class
attendance.  Please date each workout at
the top and circle the week you are completing at the bottom of the page.  This enables me to chart and follow your
    progress.
  4. Be sure to include abdominals with
    each workout session.  Abdominals include
two machine abs and 2 sets of crunches or leg lifts and should be documented
along with the rest of the workout on your activity log for the day.  IF you find yourself spending more than a few
mutes completing your ‘ab’ workout, you are wasting time and your grade will
    reflect that.
  5. Failure to complete the workout
sheets will result in a grade of 70% or less.
Stay active and engaged in the weight room.  DO NOT congregate in the corners or the
hallway.  This will also be a negative
reflection in your grade.  Do not enter
the locker room until the 10 minute bell signals the end of class.  At that point, all class members will be
required to put away all plates on the racks, pick up all dumb bells and
    otherwise clean up the equipment.
  6.  “LOCK UP” all personnel items in the
locker room.  I can’t say this
enough!   I am not responsible for lost
or stolen items.  You may choose to use an
already school purchased lock or buy one of your own.  Jewelry can be locked in my office, as well
as other valuables during class, but it is your responsibility to pick it up at
    the end of class.
  7.  Your grade is based on individual
    progression.  Work hard, stay active,
challenge yourself and you will succeed.
