Towamensing Elementary Chorus

The Towamensing Elementary Chorus is a wonderful extra curricular activity offered to all students in grades 4, 5 & 6. Chorus students meet weekly for one hour to rehearse and prepare their selections for their upcoming performance. Preparation of the music includes:

-learning, practicing, and advancing proper vocal techniques

-advancing music reading skills by learning and recognizing a wide variety of music symbols, terms, rhythms, and pitches

-developing pitch matching skills by singing in 2 and 3 part harmony with both homophonic and polyphonic texture

-learning and understanding genre, cultural background, historical significance, and musical influence of music selections and composers of music being rehearsed

-developing memorization of lyrics, melody, and musical nuance in musical selections for performance
