My name is Mrs. Cox and I am a native of Port Allegany, born and raised in the community.

Class of '73

I earned my undergraduate degree at Thiel College in Greenville, PA.  I then took a break from formal education and studied life as a military wife and mother. I spent 12 years traveling the "world" and enjoying the birth and early years of my two daughters.  I have lived in Mississippi, North Dakota, Germany and up-state New York  moving back to Port Allegany in 1990. After my return, I attended St. Bonaventure to earn my teaching credentials.  I joined the teaching staff in Port Allegany in 1993 and brought up my children in the gator tradition.  I spent my first 11 years in sixth grade, then moved to third grade and currently am teaching first grade.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. I was married in July and enjoy time with my husband.  I have seven grandchildren, three girls and four boys, who are the delight of my life. They keep me young or make me old, I am not sure which.  I fill my time away from school with church, reading, cooking, camping, fishing, playing games and singing.  I enjoy singing in church and traveling. I have had the priviledge of taking mission trips to Peru, Mexico City and Papua New Guinea.  What an amazing blessing and education that has been!

I think teaching is the best job in the world because I have an excuse to feed my curiousity, buy children's books and stay forever the learner.
