Ten Buddies

The ten buddies are a combination of numbers that equal 10:

9+1=10, 8+2=10, 7+3=10, 6+4=10, 5+5=10, 1+9=10, 2+8=10, 3+7=10, 4+6=10

Use a regular deck of cards, removing, King, Queen, Jacks, Jokers

ACE card = 1

  1. Pass six cards out to each person

  2. They can look at their cards

  3. Dealer lays one card from the remaining in the deck number side up.

  4. Whomever lays the ten buddy on top and states the number and ten buddies gets the pair.  They can use a combination of cards such as 4+5 added to an Ace that is laid by the dealer.  If no one has a ten buddy match, the card goes into a second pile. The first person after that to get a ten buddy combination, takes the second pile and adds it to their hand for more chances to get ten buddies.

  5. All ten buddy pairs are to be kept separate from their hand.

  6. If someone lays and card and someone else challenges because they do not believe that the ten buddies laid are accurate:

The challenger is correct and the pair is not ten buddies, then they get to keep the pair and put it into their hand.

If the challenger is incorrect, the person laying the ten buddies keeps the ten buddy pair and collects one card from the challenger.

  7. When someone runs out of cards, the game ends.  The students lay the ten buddies that they collected out.  The person who has the most correct ten buddies laid out wins.
