Technology should be an integrated part of the curriculum, not the focus of a lesson.  The students should be able to focus on the ideas and concepts being taught, with technology being used as a common everyday tool for the learning.  This may take time to get the students and staff acclimated to this concept, but it should be the goal.

Students should have consistent and reliable access to tools for use in learning.  They should be taught using tools that they can access from anywhere and can use even outside of formal learning situations.  It is important to show them not only how to use technology, but how to use it “effectively and appropriately.”  This includes teaching them how to use tools they already have such as cell phones and iPods, which many students have but do not know how to use in an educational fashion.
