Mrs. Ridgeley

Merry, merry, merry Christmas!

LET'S GO STEELERS!!!

Acid Rain Lab!

On April 23rd, students in Mrs. Ridgeley's Conservation Biology classes conducted pH testing on our local rain water. For the second year in a row, the news is good! The rain was collected from April 16-21 and students consistantly found pH results in the 5.5 - 6.5 range. Rain is categorized as "acid rain" if it has a pH below 5.6.

This lab follows our tropospheric ozone lab and bridges our air pollution and water pollution units. The values determined by the students this year (and last!) are a marked improvement over those determined from labs in previous years - when the pH of our local rain was determined to be in the same range as popular carbonated soft drinks Yell!
