Keystone Algebra I

Course Objective:  To prepare students for the Pennsylvania State Keystone Algebra 1 Exam.

 

Classroom Philosophies

 I.               Grading:      

                                            A: 100 – 92, B: 91 – 83, C: 82 – 76, D: 75 – 70, F: 69 – 0

 

II.             Preparation:  Students must bring the following materials with them every day:

  1. Your covered textbook, when required
  2. Sharpened pencil with eraser
  3. Two different colored pens (any color) and a highlighter
  4. A loose-leaf binder (recommended) OR notebook with folder (for handouts)
  5. A (TI-30xa) calculator (non-graphing)
  6. A positive attitude J

**Students must come to class with these materials and will not be permitted to go to their locker after class has started to get them.

III.                        Classroom Procedures:

    1. Food, drinks, and gum are NOT allowed in the classroom.
    2. Respectful language is to be used at all times.
    3. Restrooms are to be used before and after class only. 
    4. All math work is to be completed in pencil
    5. Do not leave paper or trash on the floor or under your desk. 
    6. Do not write on the walls or desks.
    7. No CD players, cell phones, playing cards, or non-academic items are allowed in class.
    8. Hats are not permitted in class
    9. The school dress code will be enforced.
    10. Failure to comply with these policies may result in detention, parent conference

and/or referral to Administration.

  IV.                        Homework:

    1. a.      No credit will be given for late assignments, except for an excused absence.
    2. b.      Students in ISS are expected to complete the work for that day, as usual. All work for the class missed should be completed in ISS and the homework due for that day should be handed to the ISS instructor.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!
    3. c.       Always show work  NO WORK = NO CREDIT
    4. d.      Graded based on effort and level of completion
    5. e.       Assignments will be graded as follows:
      1.                                                               i.      Complete assignment (10 points)
      2.                                                             ii.      At least half the assignment (5 points)
      3.                                                           iii.      Less than half the assignment (0 points)

 V.                        Absence/ Make-up Work Policy:

    1. It is your responsibility to obtain assignments when absent.  The amount of time allowed for make-up is equal to the amount of class time missed.
    2. School/ Athletic-Related Absences: You are responsible for any work missed.  This includes notes, homework and tests.  All work is due upon your return.
