in class, we continued to review the vaocabulary words that will be on the final exam,  We played the kahoot game for bonus points on the final exam and then students used the remainer of class time to do practice problems to review for the final exam

Today in class we discussed the last way in which to prove two triangles congruent which is Hypostenuse Leg (HL).  In order to use HL, you need to have right triangles, congruent hypotenuses and congruent legs.

Today we moved into section 5 of chapter 4.  In this section , we looked at isosceles triangles. If the base angles of the isosceles triangles are congruent then the legs are congruent.  If the legs of the isosceles triangle are congruent.  Then the base angles of the triangle are congruent.

In class we continued into section 3.7, writing equations of lines.  There are 5 different scenerios where you would have to write the equation of a line.  The first is if you are given the slope and the y-intercept; the slope and a point; two points, a line parallel and a point and a line perpendicular and a point.

 In class:

In class, we continued into 3.6.  In this section we discussed graphing lines in slope intercept form (y=mx+b) and standard form (Ax+By=C).  We also discussed how to determine if lines are parallel (same slopes), perpendicular (opposite reciprocal slopes) or neither.  We also discussed what the next couple of classes look like between now and the end of the term/thanksgiving.

Students filled out the notes for class by watching the video (due to me not being in class).  After the notes video was watched, students then completed the polygon worksheets.  If the worksheets were not completed in class, they should be completed for homework.

Today in class we continued into section 4 of chapter 3.  In this section we began discussing triangles and looked at the triangle angle sum theorem and the exterior angle sum theorem.

Today in class we discussed the last two ways to prove that two lines are parallel.  These two ways, parallel to the same line and perpendicular to the same line round out the 7 ways.

Today we discussed section 3.2 which specifically looked at proving lines to be parallel.  We were introduced to 5 ways today and will learn the other 2 ways next class.  You will need to know the 7 ways to prove two lines parallel for the test.  We also played Dance, Dance Transversal with the winner winning bonus points.

1. Show that alternate interior angles are congruent

2. Show that alternate exterior angles are congruent

3. Show that corresponding angles are congruent

4. Show that Same-Side Interior angles are Supplementary.

5. Show that Same- Side Exterior angles are Supplementary.

In class:

Today we were introduced to 3.1 Properties of Parallel Lines.  In this section, students were introduced to the transversal and the 8 angles that are formed with two parallel lines and a transversal.  Alternate Interior, Alternate Exterior and Corresponding Angles are all congruent while same side interior and same side exterior are supplementary.

Today we finished chapter by completing section 2.5.  In this section, we discussed vertical angles and discussed their relationship—that they are congruent.  We also reviewed supplementary and complementary angles.

Today we went through sections 1.7-1.9.  I picked the important topics from each section to cover.  1.7 Basic Constructions covered bisectors and depending on the type, how they cut an angle into two equal parts.  1.8 reviewed the coordinate plane and the midpoint and distance formulas.  In 1.9, we discused permeter, cirumference and area of squares, rectangles and circles.
