Miss Mealy's Kindergarten Website

Welcome Letter

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to kindergarten! My name is Miss Bethany Mealy, I will have the pleasure of teaching your child this year. This is my sixth year working in the Port Allegany School District, and I am so blessed to be given this opportunity. It is my belief that a child's success is based on a cooperative parent/teacher relationship.  I look forward to working with you throughout the coming year.

I hope you and your child will enjoy the summer and that you will be ready to embark on this important milestone in your child's life when school begins.  Kindergarten is a year of growing socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. The amount of learning that takes place is amazing! Your involvement, interest, and enthusiasm will help make this a wonderful year of growth for you and your child.  I want to thank you for sharing your child with me.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you as well. I graduated as a nontraditional student in 2014 from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford with a degree in Early Level Education Pre-K-4th. Later, I also earned my certification for grades 4-6 as well as English Language Arts and Reading for grades 7-8.  Additionally, I graduated from Edinboro University with a master's in reading.  I have worked as a long-term substitute teacher for both the Johnsonburg Area School District and the Otto-Eldred Area School District. Teaching is my lifelong dream, and I feel very fortunate to be a part of the Port Allegany School District teaching staff.

I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child, and I am sure that all of us will learn a lot in the upcoming months! I will send home information to keep you informed and up-to-date on what we are doing in the classroom, as well as what you can do with your child at home to provide additional practice in certain areas. Also, please visit my website often for announcements and updates.  If you ever have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me. I want to hear from you!

Thank you for entrusting your child to me,

Sincerely,

Miss Bethany Mealy
