Today we went over the syllabus and class rules/expectations. A parent letter was given, and is due NO LATER THAN TUESDAY 9/2. Textbooks were also assigned. The syllabus and parent letter are attached on the page for this class found under the navigation menu.

Today we began a unit on set theory. We took notes on different types of numbers, and students were given a handout to aid note taking. We did not get to the bottom half of the back of the notes handout. For homework, please complete only the chart, not the problems following.

Today we went over the homework. We then finished up notes from last class, and began notes on set theory. Today we covered different symbols that are used and the use of venn diagrams. Students were provided a handout to aid note taking. Signed parent letters were also due today. We did not get to the last example in the notes, and will use it to begin next class. Therefore, you only need to complete the first side of the homework.

Today we went over the homework. We then took notes on word problems involving sets, and the compliment. A handout was provided. We briefly began talking about inequalities being used in Set Theory. I am so sorry I am out again today - I was in the hospital over the weekend for a severe infection and have been scolded by my doctor to stay at home, in bed, and not be on my feet (I tried to come in yesterday, and ended up having to go home almost immediently). Today we had liturgy so classes were only an hour long. We worked through some additonal equations in notebooks, amplifying the difficulty level. There is no homework.

Today we began class with a few review problems on solving equations that involve fractions. We then took notes on section 3.8 - Rewriting Equations and Formulas (we skipped from 3.4 to 3.8 due to the similarity in content, and we will be covering sections 3.5-3.7 next week). Today we took notes on 4.5 - Graphing Lines by finding and using the slope and y-intercept. Content covered in section 4.4 and 4.6 will be covered in the beginning of chapter 5, so we will not be reviewing those during this chapter. I gave a handout to aid note taking. Today we did a few warm up problems pertaining to putting equations into slope-intercept form and identifying the slope and y-intercept. We then took notes on the final section of the chapter, 4.7. Please remember that sections 4.4 and 4.6 will be covered in the beginning of chapter 5. The handout we used as a guide is attached below. Students also recieved a review for their chapter 4 test, which will be on Tuesday, 11/6. It should be completed for next class. Finally, students recieved an Extra Practice assignment. We also talked about scheduling and what to start thinking about for next year in terms of math class. In B1, we began a tiny bit of 8.5-8.6, but did not get to it in B3 (classes were shortened due to liturgy). Friday we will complete these two sections. There is no homework.

Today students got their tests back, and we talked about a minor error I saw a couple of times throughout the test - forgetting to factor some polynomials more than once.
