Welcome to Kindergarten!

Meet Mrs. Johnson

My name is Kari Johnson and this is my sixth year teaching kindergarten! I am happily married to my best friend and we have a one and a half year old son at home.  Soon, we will add another little boy to our family! I am excited to see what the future has in store for our family. I graduated from Mercyhurst University in 2013 where I received my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.  While in college, I was provided the opportunity to student teach in both a 4th grade and Kindergarten classroom.  Both experiences equipped me with the skills necessary to be successful within the classroom as well as outside. I just recently graduated from Edinboro University where I earned my Master's in Reading. I am excited to use this newly acquired knowledge to help instruct and inspire students to read.

I graduated from the Port Allegany School District in 2009 and I cannot express how excited I am to be back. Teaching is a way through which I can give back to a community that gave so much to me. I am often asked the question "What does teaching mean to you?" I have a simple response, "It means everything!" Teaching children is my passion in life.  I could not picture myself in any other profession.
