NOTE:  My marking period closes on October 25th.  Any make up work needs to be submitted on or before that day in order to be considered for credit.

CHAPTER TEST WILL BE ON OCTOBER 11! 

Students are reminded to review class notes and Vocabulary on a daily basis.

9/30 - Today, students will read about Ionic and Covalent Bonding and outline Main Ideas 2 and 3 from pages 38 - 39 in textbook and also copy Figures 2.3 and 2.4 into their notes. This will be Outline #5. HMWK: Complete outline- it is due tomorrow.

10/ 1  - We will review Outline #5 on different kinds of bonding and add notes.  Outlines will then be collected and graded. Then we will be discussing how compounds form and writing chemical formulas for compounds. HMWK: Complete the worksheet on Bonding and Chemical Formulas. Also, students will answer Questions 1-5 on page 39 in their text using complete sentences.  This is a graded assignment.

10/ 2  Questions 1-5 on page 39 Homework will be collected. We will review the bonding/chemical formula worksheet next.  Then students will copy Vocab #40-47 into their Vocab Foldie and define. Students will then read about the properties of water and outline Main Ideas 1 and 2 from pages 40-42 in textbook. This is Outline #6. Daily Quiz tomorrow.

10/ 3  - There will be a Daily Quiz on Vocab # 40 - 47 first. Outline # 6 will be reviewed and then collected. HMWK: Vocab words #48-51 should be added to the Vocab Foldie and defined.This is the last vocab for this unit. They will then read and outline pages 42- 43 on pH, acids and bases. This is Outline # 7 and the last outline of the unit.

10/ 4  CHAPTER TEST WILL BE ON OCTOBER 11!  Students should be reviewing their notes and Vocab! 

First we will have our Daily Quiz on Vocab #48-51. We will review student outline #7 from pages 42-43 and add notes to the outline. Students will receive a review packet The Chemicals of Life.  They will read, highlight and answer questions on pages 1,2,3 and 4. This assignment will be due Tuesday, October 8th.

10/ 7 TEACHER'S INSERVICE DAY - NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS

CHAPTER TEST WILL BE ON OCTOBER 11!  Students should be reviewing their notes and Vocab! 

10/ 8 - CHAPTER TEST WILL BE ON OCTOBER 11!  Students should be reviewing their notes and Vocab! 

As a class we will read aloud and highlight pages 1- 4 and review answers in the Chemistry packet. Students are to complete the packet for homework.Then in class we will construct a pH scale model.

10/ 9 - CHAPTER TEST WILL BE ON OCTOBER 11!  Students should be reviewing their notes and Vocab! 

Using The Chemicals of Life handout, they will read, highlight and answer questions on pages 5,6,7 and 8. Students should complete their pH model foldie and submit it for a grade. Outlines will be collected tomorrow for use on the test. Students should have their Periodic Tables colored and keyed. It will be collected as part of the test on Friday.

10/10 - Students should be reviewing their notes and Vocab on a daily basis.

CHAPTER REVIEW TODAY. As a class we will read aloud and highlight pages 5-8 and review answers in the Chemistry packet. All Outlines are due by the end of class today if they are to be used on the test tomorrow. Make sure you have your Periodic Table with you for the test tomorrow.

10/14  - Chapter test makeups today.  HMWK: We will begin our new topic of study, Introduction to organism hierarchy and structure. Students will read and complete the worksheet "Multicellular Life". Students will make a new Vocab Foldie and begin defining Vocab words # 1-13 for homework. There will be 2 Daily Quizzes tomorrow.

10/15  -  First we will make up a new Daily Quiz Sheet. Two Daily Quiz today on Vocab # 1 - 13. After the Quizzes, we will review the worksheet.  HMWK: Students will read and outline pages 852 - 856. This will be outline #1 and is due tomorrow.

10/16 First, we will review the outline from pages 852 - 856.  Then the students outlines will be collected and graded.  We will be doing a mini lab on the major systems of the human body. Projects will be due in class tomorrow.  There will be a Quiz on this material on 10/21.

10/17 - Today we will first watch a short video and complete a study guide.  Then students will finish up their mini projects on the major systems of the human body and turn it in.  HMWK: Quiz on major systems of the human body Monday.HMWK:  Daily Quiz on Monday.

10/18  Today we will be doing an assignment on cloning using a Science World article.

STUDENTS WILL BE ASKED TO BRING IN TWO (2) FOOD LABELS WITH THE NUTRITION INFORMATION FROM HOME FOR FOODS THEY USUALLY EAT. WE WILL BE DOING A LAB IN CLASS NEXT WEEK.

10/21Today is the Quiz on major systems of the human body. Then, students are to copy Vocab # 14-21 and define them on their Vocab Foldie.  Then they will read and outline pages 972 - 974 in their texts. This is Outline #2. We will review the outlines in class  tomorrow.

10/22 - Daily Quiz on Vocab# 14-21. We will be reviewing the 6 types of nutrients for Outline #1.  We will continue our review tomorrow.

10/23 - We will complete our Outline #2 review today and then outlines will be collected.  Students will then copy Vocab #22 - 29 into their Vocab Foldie and define the words. There will be a Daily Quiz tomorrow.

10/24 - CHECK AGENDA BOOKS TODAY FOR EXTRA CREDIT POINTS! Any student who has kept  accurate accounting of homework assignments will receive Extra Credit for Marking Period 1.

Daily Quiz on Vocab #22 - 29 today. hen students will begin reading and outlining pages 977- 980 in the text.  Our new topic wil be the human digestive system.  This is Outline #3.  In addition, students will define Vocab words # 30 -34.  There will be a Daily Quiz tomorrow.

10/25 - My marking period closes today.

First we will do our Daily Quiz on Vocab #30- 34.  Then we will go over students' outlines.  They will be collected.  Students will then learn the organs of the digestive system by color coding a drawing. This worksheet is due at the end of the period and will be graded. If not completed, it is homework and due Monday.

10/28 - There will be a Science World assignment from the latest edition of the magazine.  Worksheet is due at the end of the period and will be graded.

10/29 - 1st MARKING ENDS TODAY

Today, students will complete Study Guide 32.1 in class and turn in the sheet when done.  This is a graded assignment.  In addition, students will complete Nutrition worksheet for homework.

10/30 - First, we will go over the Nutrition worksheet 1st.  Then we will do the prelab.

10/31  - LAB TODAY!  LABS WILL BE DUE TOMORROW IN CLASS.

11/ 1  - LABS ARE DUE IN CLASS TODAY!
