2/ 3-  We will go over Study Guide 3.1 first.  Then students will read about the theory of symbiosis on pages 372-374 and outline the information. This is Outline #2.  In addition, they are to copy Fig. 12.13 into their outline. There are 5 prefixessuffixes that students should add to their notes: endo -, cyto-, -osis, therm-, symbi-

2/ 4- First, we will go over Outline #2.  Then students will be introduced to the Marking Period project on the Cell. The CELL PROJECT is a MANDATORY PROJECT and worth 100 points. Each student will be given the directions, rubric and worksheets necessary. The DUE DATE for the project is FEBRUARY 18th and it will be strictly enforced. - no exceptions!  Students should be ready to present to the class on that date.  Full information will be listed on the PROJECT TAB on this website. There will be time in class to work on the projects this week only. Students are reminded to ask questions/ get clarification as soon as possible.

2/ 5 - Students will read and outline pages 73 - 77 on cell organelles. This is outline #3. Students are reminded to work on their Cell Project!

2/ 6 - We will review and then students will continue their outline #3 by reading pages 77 - 79.

2/ 7 WEATHER RELATED EARLY DISMISSAL TODAY, SO NOT ALL CLASSES MET....

We watched a DVD on cellular respiration.

2/10- TWO HOUR DELAY, NOT ALL CLASSES WILL MEET.  Students will work on their Outline #3 and projects.

2/11We will review pages 77 - 79 and then outline #3 will be collected and graded for completness. We will read aloud and highlight a worksheet on a plant cell in class. Students will then make their own color key and color in the cell.  This is due on Wednesday, 2/12. We will read aloud and highlight a worksheet on an animal cell in class. 2/12 - Plant cell sheets will be collected first.  We will then read aloud and highlight a worksheet on an animal cell in class.  Students will make their own color key and color in the cell.  This is due on Thursday, 2/13.

2/13 -  Animal cell sheets will be collected first. Then, we will watch a DVD:  Biology - Inside a Cell and students will complete a 3 -2 -1 slip. This is a graded class assignment and will be collected at the end of the period.

Students will be reading the latest edition of the Science World magazine and will be completing an assignment.  It is due at the end of the period.  This is a graded assignment.

2/17- president's day.jpg  PRESIDENT'S DAY HOLIDAY - NO SCHOOL

2/18 - Cell Project presentations begin today! Students will present their projects in class today.

2/19 -   We will continue with cell project presentations as needed. Then students will be completing a book assignment on page 95 in their text.  Complete # 1-10, #14, # 16, # 19 using complete sentences.  This is due at the end of the period. THERE IS A QUIZ ON CELL ORGANELLES THIS FRIDAY!

2/20 -  We will watch a Video clip on the Tour of the Cell. Students will complete a study guide and review it in class. THERE IS A QUIZ ON CELL ORGANELLES THIS FRIDAY!

2/21 QUIZ ON CELL ORGANELLES TODAY!
After taking the Quiz, students will be working on Outline #4 by reading about Bacteria on pages 555-558 and copying Fig 18.13 on p. 557.  There are 3 Main Ideas in this section. HMWK: Complete the reading and outline. Outlines will be due on Monday.

2/24 - First we will go over the material from Outline #4.  Students will add to their outline with classroom notes and discussion materials.  Outlines will be collected and graded for completeness. There will be a worksheet on the anatomy of Bacteria and several questions to answer.  We will review the worksheet in class.

2/25 Students will then read pages 559 - 561 in the text on Beneficial roles of prokaryotes. In addition, students will complete Study Guide 18.5 - No outline is required - the Study Guide will take its place.

2/26- We will go over Study Guide 18.5 in class and students should make corrections.  Then, we will be reading about Bacterial  Diseases on text pages 563 - 565 and complete Study Guide 18.6. No outline is required - the Study Guide will take its place.HMWK: Complete the Study Guide for class tomorrow.

2/27 Study Guide 18.6 will be reviewed in class and students should make corrections. We will begin a new topic: The cell membrane.  Students will be copying Vocab words #12 -20 onto their Vocab Foldies and define the words. HMWK: Complete definitions for the Daily Quiz tomorrow.

2/28 We will begin class with Daily Quiz on Vocab words #12 -20.  Students will then read about the cell membrane on pages 81-84 in their text and outline the material. In addition, students will copy Visual Vocab on page 81 into their outline as well as Figures 3.18, 3.19 and 3.20. This will be Outline #5. HMWK:Complete the reading and outline.
