  • Respect school property and equipment in the classroom

  • Use appropriate language in the classroom, always!
  • Follow safety and sanitation guidelines in the classroom

 SUPPLIES

  • Textbook (class set provided by the teachers)
  • Folder with pockets just for our class labeled (FOODS, INTERIOR DESIGN, CHILD DEVELOPMENT, 7TH GRADE, 8TH GRADE, ETC)
  • Pen, pencil and eraser
  • Planners (to help you learn to organize and stay on top of things in each of your classes and it serves as your pass to leave the classroom!)

 ATTENDANCE & TARDIES

It is your responsibility to get materials and assignments from the teacher after you have been absent.  You must complete a “Make Up Work Request” slip the day you return to school.  All food labs must be made up within 2 weeks in order to receive credit.  Refer to the make-up file that contains your missing assignments and labs for the week.

You are tardy if you are not in the room when the bell rings.  The FAHS tardy policy will be enforced.

 MAKE-UPWORK AND FOODLABS

You have 3 days to submit any late assignments after the due date.  Each day late will result in a 10% grade reduction.  After 3 days you will receive a ZERO on the assignment.

If you miss a foods lab, you will have a total of 2 weeks to complete the lab, turn in the lab make-up form with a parent’s signature and include a small sample of the food item.  Do not come to me two days before the end of the semester and ask to complete any missing labs or assignments.  It will be too late at this point!

You can not make up any missed labs or assignments if your absence has not been cleared through your administrator (ex: if you have an unexcused absence).

Remember to complete the make-up work request slip the day you return to get any missed assignments or recipes.

GRADES

Your grade will be based on daily participation (this includes participating in class as well as bringing supplies), daily assignments, homework, group activities, food labs, special projects, quizzes, tests, and notebook/folder checks.  Keep a record of your grades and keep all your assignments and lab recipes in your folder.  I will share your grade with you periodically.  The following grading scale will be used:

A         90-100

B          80-89

C         70-79

D         60-69

F          59 and below

 DISCIPLINE

Any discipline issues will be handled in accordance with the disciplinary guidelines for Ferndale Area High School.  Please refer to your student handbook/planner for further details.

Cheating is unacceptable in any form.  If you are caught or suspected of cheating on any quiz, test, or project you will receive a zero.  It’s not worth it!  Do your own work!
