Hi, everyone!  Are you ready for a new year of mathematics?

ALGEBRA 1   Classroom Policy       MRS. APPLEBY   2012/2013

CALCULATORS are required for class.  They should be fraction capable, scientific calculators.

MATH FOLDERS are also required. (They may be part of a larger binder.)

Folders will be used to organize handouts, worksheets and assignments, and may be used for some (but not all) tests.

GRADING:  Grades will be based on homework and assignments, tests, quizzes, participation, calculators and folders.  

RETESTING:  Tests and major quizzes may be retested one time each. 

MATH HELP:  Help  is available before school, after school, and at times during the day, schedule permitting.  Please ASK FOR HELP BEFORE YOU FALL BEHIND.  Frequently it only takes a few minutes to clear up misunderstandings or confusion.

ON-LINE GRADEBOOK:  Gradebook is updated daily.  Please view frequently to see assignments, grades and any missing work.

ATTENDANCE is important, as math concepts build upon previous lessons. 

Assignments missed during excused absences may be made up according to the handbook.

Tests/Quizzes may be made up before or after school, during homework club, or at some other time if schedules permit.  Please see me for a time, if necessary.

TARDIES:  Three class tardies (and additional tardies) will result in after-school detention.   

HOMEWORK:  Skills build and upon previous lessons and homework is important practice for the next day's lesson.  Late work is not credited except for excused absences. 

DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR  will result in a warning and student conference, followed by a call to parent/guardian, if necessary.  Repeated disruptive behavior will result in after-school detention and referral to the office.

DISRESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR/INSUBORDINATION will be referred to the office.  School Policy says:

  “FOLLOW DIRECTIONS THE FIRST TIME THEY ARE GIVEN.”
