CW: Classwork HW: Homework
PSSA Boot Camp! --Practice makes perfect...and Miss Harper is one tough drill sergeant! All English Classes are expected to review and practice for the PSSA's. (Even those who are not taking it this year, often need the repetition to continue Mastery of the skills. This knowledge is also great when helping to study for the SAT's.)
AR Reading is mandatory for students in all grades and is now a part of the students English grade per marking period! AR Reading helps to increase independent reading skills.
Study Island is available for all students as practice for the PSSA's. *These skills are also explicitly taught in class, but frequent practice makes perfect, especially for struggling learners who need the consistent review. Students are required to be working on Study Island Reading on certain days during class. Students are given a participation grade for working and completing assignments through the year. At the end of the year, they will be graded based on an overall accuracy level, so it's important to practice those skills that are tougher!
Senior Class Projects are a requirement for graduation. Often times learning support students need additional prompting or support, especially with the written parts of the project. This reminder will help them to keep this assignment a priority.
The assignments that are in black are for all my English/Reading classes. If your child has missed any days of school, ask to see if they have brought home their work. Many times missed work is passed out, but is left in their lockers, etc. and never gets turned in. *If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, using the appropriate link.
