Creating Music  This site lets kids easily create and experiment with music and rhythm by drawing their compositions on a "Musical Sketch Pad". Also includes musical puzzles which challenge users to put melodies in the correct order, and other fun activities.

Guitar Lesson World  50 step-by-step lessons show you what you need to know to play the guitar. Also contains helpful information on what to look for when buying a guitar, useful quick-reference charts, and much more.

Introduction to Reading Music  Presents an introduction to the most important topics related to reading music in a very easy to understand way.

Learn About Instruments  Listen to and learn about instruments in the string, woodwind, brass and percussion families.

Music Genre Sampler  Learn about and hear samples of the more popular musical genres like jazz, rock, classical, reggae, celtic, country, and blues.

Music Explained is a new site where you can pick a song and write about what you think it means and how you feel about it. It could be a nice place for students to write about their favorite music and see what others have written, too. The link to student writing could be posted on a student or teacher blog/website. They indicate that there is some monitoring of what people write, but it’s unclear to what extent it is reviewed.

Note Flight  Noteflight® is an online music writing application that lets you create, view, print and hear music notation with professional quality, right in your web browser. Work on a score from any computer on the Internet, share with other users, or embed into your own pages. Sign up for a free account.

Play Music  Learn about and listen to instruments in the string, woodwind, brass and percussion families. Includes Shockwave games.

JoyTunes recorder game, is a set of games that kids play while playing the... recorder. They control the games (web-based) with the real instruments and while playing they are actually practicing and improving their music skills. Music teachers can use it in class to teach kids not only the recorder but to read music, listening etc.; You can also use the game (free, by the way) as a motivational tool to encourage the kids to play an instrument.
