Teaching Philosophy:

Throughout history, art has always been an important way for people to communicate, learn about, and connect to the past and present world.  By creating art children learn to perceive and interpret the world around them.  Studying art from an early age develops students’ respect and appreciation for other cultures as well.  Art education is crucial in the development of the whole child because it teaches life long skills such as problem solving, communication, and divergent thinking.  Art teachers help stimulate the child’s imagination and creativity as they guide students in making judgments independently.  Unlike other academic areas, in art there are many solutions to a single problem and different ideas are applauded.  In turn, self-confidence soars.  All students should be given the experience to explore and experiment with a wide variety of tools, techniques and media in the art room in order for them to create, express, respond, question, critique, interpret and discover!

I look forward to sharing my passion for art with your children.  Wether they pursue art as a career or not, the students will have the opportunity to reap the benefits of a well-rounded art program and can gain an appreciation of the many ways art has shaped our world.
