Here's what we did in class today:

4.17.12 - Informative packets that contain all details, rubrics and requirements of the project were handed out to each class today.  Please make sure that you ask your child for this packet as it is very important that you read over it and let me know of any questions or concerns.  Please sign and return the first page of the packet.  Your child will receive 4 bonus points for returning this sheet by next Tuesday.

4.16.12 - Today we started our discussion on the Annual Probability Carnival and what the requirements of this project are.  We looked at dozens of photos of past student projects today so that each of the students could get an idea of what the fair and the game presentations looked like.  I asked the kids to begin thinking about a partner to work with - even though partners are not mandatory - they are highly recommended.  Packets with all the requirements will be sent home tomorrow.  Please email me any questions or concerns that you might have.

4.13.12 - We started Chapter 7 today and we were able to complete the first lesson.  In honor of the nice weekend ahead of us - we will not have homework from the book.  Don't forget study island is due on Monday and it counts as a QUIZ GRADE!

4.12.12 - Tests were given back today and checked.  All scores have been entered into Powerschool.  We are beginning Chapter 7 tomorrow.  HOMEWORK:  p 443  # 1 - 32

4.11.12 - Many students needed to complete their test today - so that is what we spent our time doing.  Also - Study Island "Probability" Assignment will be DUE MONDAY (4/16/12) and will be counted as a QUIZ GRADE.  Make sure it is completed by then - at least 30 questions per topic.

4.10.12 - We took the Chapter 6 Test today.  Look in Powerschool tomorrow for the results.

4.3.12 - We are still in the process of going over the flip charts which we will continue tomorrow.  Our chapter 6 test is still on schedule for Tuesday, April 10.  Have a great Spring Break!

4.2.12 - We completed our flipcharts today and are in the process of presenting them in class.  Try and bring a flash drive so that you can take these charts home with you to study over Spring Break for the Chapter 6 Test on Tuesday, Apr. 10.

3.29.12 - After checking all the answers to the 6-5 - 6-6 Reveiw - we began to take our quiz.  Many students have taken their time and will require a bit more time tomorrow in order to complete the quiz.  We then will begin flipcharts in groups to review the entire chapter.

3.28.12 - Today we started the review for the last two lessons (6-5 and 6-6) in preparation of our Quiz Tomorrow.

HOMEWORK:  P  429 # 2 - 20 EVEN

3.27.12 - We finished the rest of the examples in Lesson 6 - 6.  We had a good 30 minutes to start our homework.  Most of the graphing should take place on the computer.  Anything not completed could be done by hand.  However, I expect at least three of the graphs to be digital.

 HOMEWORK: p 424 # 2 - 14 even

3.26.12 - Checked our homework today and the class felt confident enough to move onto 6-6 Systems of Inequalities.  We covered up to and including example 2.  We will continue tomorrow.

3.22.12 - Today we were able to cover the first three examples of Lesson 6-5 Graphing Inequalities.  Our HOMEWORK assignment (due Monday) is: p 418 # 2-8

Also - Study Island Algebra Assignments (2) will be counted as quiz grades on Monday, March 26.

We will not have class tomorrow due to the early dismissal and temporary room change.

3.21.12 - PSSAs are now complete which means we will be back on our normal class schedules - Today all students had the class to work on the two assignments in Algebraic Concepts online at Study Island.  These two assignments must have a minumum of 30 questions per topic in order to be counted as two separate quiz grades which are due this Monday.

3.7.12 - Today we took a quiz on Lesson 6.1 - 6.4.  Look for the results tomorrow.

3.6.12 - We checked our review today - step by step on each problem.  We are now prepared to take the quiz.  It will occur tomorrow, since we did not have enough time today for it.

3.5.12 - We completed our discussion on Solving Special Systems.  We took some today today to partner up and work on the examples from the homework page.  We were also able to check these today.  We are now ready to review the first four lessons and should be prepared to take a quiz tomorrowHOMEWORK:   P 413 # 4, 5, 6, 8-20 even

3.2.12 - We started to look at the next lesson on Solving Special Systems.  We were in the process of solving the third example when class ended.  We were in groups and created flipcharts on these examples.  Please make sure these are completed by the start of class on Monday.

3.1.12 - We checked our homework problems today and found that many of us had a pretty solid understanding of solving systems using elimination.  We broke up into small groups and worked on a few more examples with elimination.  We'll turn our focus to Lesson 6.4 tomorrow.

2.29.12 - Day 6 today - we got into our groups and reviewed PSSA Algebra - which is much simplier than what we have been working on in class.  We had a nice overview of the types of questions that appear on the test and then we turned our focus onto Linear Relationships - where we matched x/y tables to equations and graphs.  We also have a new assignment on Study Island that will be due by next Day 6 (next Thursday).  This will count for a grade.  **Don't forget - Homework from yesterday is due tomorrow.

2.28.12 - We finished our lesson today - 6.3 - Many examples were covered and the students used ActivInspire to show their work and create digital notes.  Homework:  p 401 # 1 - 9 odd

2.27.12 - Today, we began looking at Solving Systems with Elimination.  We were able to complete the first two examples, along with notes, before we had to end class.  STudy Island assignment:  the two Geometry assignments will be counted as quiz grades - work on these topics tonight to be sure to get a passing quiz grade.

2.24.12 - After checking our homework today, we found there were still a few of us who could use a litte extra guidance on Solving using Substitution.  We partnered up and completed some problems together to wrap up class.  The solutions and work will be shared on Monday, and we will then move into Lesson 6.3.

2.23.12 - We successfully finished Lesson 6.2 today and now have an homework assignment on p 394 # 1 - 7.  This assignment is due at the start of class on Friday.

2.21.12 - PSSA Prep day today - we looked at solving more geometric questions dealing with properties of angles.  Homework - everyone log into Study Island and pass all topics that are pertaining to geometry.  They should be completed by the end of the day on Wednesday.

2.20.12 - We had many absences today, so instead of starting new material, we worked on our study island assignments.  Everyone should have our geometry assignment (Objects and Angles and Lines) completed by Wednesday of this week.  It will count as a test grade.  Tomorrow is Day 6, so we will be holding another PSSA prep session.

2.16.12 - Today, we spent a good deal of time on checking our graphs from homework yesterday.  We looked closely at exactly how to graph a system of equations and then how to find the solution.  We feel with the extra attention that we spent on graphing today, that we now have a pretty good handle on graphing to find solutions.  Next lesson on Monday, since we don't have a formal class tomorrow.

2.14.12 - After checking our homework, we began our discussions of 6.1 - Systems of Equations...We were able to complete example 1 and 2 which included substitution and graphing systems.  We will continue this lesson tomorrow.

2.13.12 - Day 6 - PSSA Prep - Our focus today was on Geometry.  The following practice sheets are good examples of how geometry will look on the PSSA.  The focus is on Properties of angles, lines and polygons, the Pythagorean Theroem, 3-Dimensional nets.  We will continue looking at Geometry next day 6.  pssa prep geo pg 1.PDF pssa prep geo pg 2.PDF pssa prep nets pg 1.PDF pssa prep nets pg 2.PDF pssa prep nets pg 3.PDF

2.10.12 - Chapter test were handed back and reviewed today.  Students had an opportunity to discuss issues and ask questions about anything that was incorrectly answered.  We are now starting Chapter 6 so for homework tonight on PG 379  #1-5, 6-32 even
