For those who have not been in my class yet, I have a math question for you.  You will not need a calculator or even pencil and paper for this problem.  Ready?  What is mathematics? OR  What is mathematics about?       Give the question a few moments before you continue, please

There are many possible answers to my question.  I would like to suggest to you that mathematics is NOT about numbers!  Mathematics is not about numbers any more than a sporting event is about the final score.  The score is just the way of keeping track of how and what was done in the game.  What makes the game interesting is not the final number but the pattern that got the teams to that number.  Mathematics is that way.  What makes it interesting is not the number at the bottom of the page but the pattern that got us there.  All humans are mathematicians in this sense:  We are all looking for patterns in our world all the time.

But, you didn't navigate to this page for a philosophy lesson but to find out about the math class.  I will try to keep this page updated with the latest news, information, schedule, and assignments from our classes.  If you have questions about the program or progress, contact me.  

Finally, I'm looking for a better title for this page than simply Mr K's Page.  Any suggestions?
