As a licensed professional counselor, I provide counseling to individuals and small groups of students as needed. I consult with teachers, parents, outside agency therapists and service providers to meet the emotional and behavioral needs of students to help them achieve success in the school setting. I serve as their advocate when appropriate and help link families to community counseling resources as requested.
In addition, I spearhead the anti-bullying efforts within the elementary schools and I coordinate a developmental guidance program for all students in Kindergarten through Fifth grade. There are specific themes for each year's lessons that build important life skills appropriate to children's development and capabilities. Each year also includes lessons on bullying and the counseling program. Every year also has career awareness activities that align with the Career and Work Standards for elementary students.
