READ 180, the most effective reading intervention program, is a comprehensive system of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development proven to raise reading achievement for struggling readers in grades 4–12+. Designed for any student reading two or more years below grade-level, READ 180 leverages adaptive technology to individualize instruction for students and provide powerful data for differentiation to teachers.

READ 180 is the most thoroughly researched reading intervention program in the world. Hundreds of studies, peer-reviewed journals, and the federal government's What Works Clearinghouse have all documented its effectiveness on student reading achievement across multiple grade levels and student populations.

FOUR groups:

1. Whole Group:

-The students work together to work on gathering information, prior knowledge, new vocabulary, and provide daily instruction in critical reading, vocabulary, writing, 21st Century learning, and grammar skills. Each student receives their own rBook to use during Whole- and Small-Group Instruction.

2. Computer section

**Data for Ownership and Accountability

-The NEW Student Dashboard gives students more ownership and accountability by giving them access to their own performance data and tapping into research-based gaming behaviors. Integral to the personalized learning experience, students compete against themselves.

**Instructional Software

-The Reading Zone is where scaffolded instruction begins. Phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension are the skills developed and practiced.

-In the Spelling Zone, students practice spelling and receive immediate corrective feedback.

-In the Word Zone, students receive systematic instruction in decoding and word recognition as they build automaticity. More than 8,000 words are defined, analyzed, and contextualized for study.

-Students reach the Success Zone only after they have met all the requirements of the other Zones and have demonstrated mastery of all words in the passages. In the Success Zone, comprehension becomes the main focus. Oral reading fluency is demonstrated with the final recording.

-The Writing Zone scaffolds students as they build competence and confidence. The ability to make an argument and support it is at the heart of the new writing standards. READ 180 Next Generation supports students as they build these skills.

2. Independent Reading section:

Rigorous Nonfiction & Literature

READ 180 Leveled Paperbacks present students with choices of age-appropriate, relevant books they can read with success. Each book is leveled, allowing reading intervention students to read confidently according to their own independent reading abilities.

3. Small Group:

A Path to Grade-Level Text

READ 180 Next Generation rBooks are engaging, interactive worktexts that provide daily instruction in critical reading, vocabulary, writing, 21st Century learning, and grammar skills. Each student receives their own rBook to use during Whole- and Small-Group Instruction.

Mrs. Sproat's thoughts about the program...

"I am exciting to work with such a great program. Working with this program for only a year so far, I have seen the students read and enjoy what they are reading. I also like that we are incorporating technology in our classrooms which has taken teaching to a whole new level."
