The Frank Porter Graham (FPG) Child Development Institute, a multidisciplinary institute at UNC-Chapel Hill, recognizes that every child deserves a safe, healthy, and stimulating childhood.  FPG work is dedicated to making this a reality for all children. FPG scientists study important issues facing young children and their families and use this information to enhance policy and improve practice. Their goal is to ensure that all children have a strong foundation for academic success and full participation as caring and responsible citizens of a multicultural world.

For the past 44 years, Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute research and outreach have shaped how the nation cares for and educates young children. FPG has a proud history of serving as an objective, knowledgeable force for social change to enhance the lives of children and families. Researchers focus on parent and family support; early care and education; child health and development; early identification and intervention; equity, access and inclusion; and early childhood policy.
