Although individual child assessment information is critical for aligning the Pennsylvania Learning Standards for Early Childhood with curriculum, it is equally important to assess the quality of the early childhood (birth to age 8) classroom environment through standardized classroom observation systems.  

The following document focuses on one aspect of quality improvement, the classroom environment. The document provides a review ofclassroom observation instruments specific to early childhood that can be used to guide quality improvement.
