The following lesson was designed for use in mixed age classrooms or in family care programs where children of varying ages are served. Although listed here as a sample for infant/toddler classrooms this model may also be used for preschool classrooms that serve children of differing ages. The weekly lesson plan incorporates the key components of an effective lesson plan. The lesson also highlights how one activity can be used to address a variety of developmental levels.

The sample lesson was developed by Office of Child Development and Early Learning staff and has not been field tested. A template is also offered which can be modified to meet the needs of diverse classroom settings.
