Meet Ms. Amacher

My name is Penny Amacher and I am a PA certified English 7-12 instructor. I am a 2014 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford with a Bachelor's degree in English and English Education and I am a 2016 graduate of Concordia University with an M. Ed. in Curriculumn and Instruction. I have participated in several programs in the field of Education including Freshman Seminar, America Reads, and Shooting Sports Merit Badge Counseling through the Boy Scouts of America. It has been my goal as a teacher to develop through my training to be able to access all students on all levels of learning. I believe that every student is capable of learning, and a teacher must be creative and flexible to foster every student's learning. I teach eighth, eleventh, and twelfth grade English at Port Allegany High School.

My teaching career started with two student teaching placements. In Bradford, PA, I taught eighth grade Reading and English at Floyd C. Fretz Middle School. At Kane Area High School in Kane, PA, I taught ninth grade English and Honors English, twelfth grade Honors English and AP, and Theater Arts. I found teaching across these different classes to be one of the best experiences because it allowed me to understand my area and how to manage several different classes at once.

I have a huge background in theater. I have worked as a stagehand behind set, an actor on the stage, and a director for a play. I try to use that background to make my classes come alive in interactive modules. It is also really fun to see what different creative things I can pull from it.

I am beyond excited to start this school year with you! If you have any questions about my classes or my process, please do not hesitate to contact me.
