Lesson 5: "The Hitchhiker" by Lucille Fletcher

A scene from Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone." Our final tale of suspense for this unit is Lucille Fletcher's "The Hitchhiker." We will listen to the famed Orson Welles's 1943 radio broadcast of this play. Following a reading/listening of the play, the students will engage in discussion of what was happening as well as what they were doing while reading along in order to "understand" the story (our two essential questions).

Post-Reading Activity: Identify 4-6 traits that best characterize the play's main character, Ronald Adams. Provide evidence from the text that supports each trait (specific lines + page numbers).
