Auditions

Baldwinaires auditions are Friday, Sept. 24th in the high school Choir Room. 

You be recorded singing, "The Star Spangled Banner" in any key you choose.  Those recordings will be sent to judges for scoring.  You only get one audition, so do your best!

The Audition Criteria below is the same as that used by The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association. 

1.  Audition numbers will be assigned by the choral director.  Numbers are mandatory for blind auditions.

2.  Tone Quality: The singer will: produce a tone that is pleasing to the ear; produce a tone free of vocal problems; exhibit appropriate voice categorization.

3. Pitch Accuracy: The singer will: sing on pitch; maintain interval intergity.

4. Rhythmic Accuracy: The singer will accurately perform rhythms.  Note: Singer may deviate from standard rhythms depending upon the style of performance.  However, the singer must maintain rhythmic context.

5. Technique: The singer will: demonstrate a mastery of the proper use of the voice as it applies to each selection.

6. Musicianship: The singer will perform with an understanding of the inherent style, dynamics, tempo, and any additional interpretive notations.

7. Articulation/Diction: The singer will use the correct pronunciation of the text.

Notes: No judge will know another judge's scores.  The judges will not know the names of the auditions.  Judges will be professional musicians or music teachers with music certification or at least a bachelor's degree in the performing arts.
