The English course in literature and composition consists of selections from American and British literature, as well as literature from other parts of the world. Throughout the year attention is given to all genres - - nonfiction, short stories, plays, novels, and poetry. Students will study classics as well as modern works that have established a place in our culture. Additionally, this course will help students develop active reading and effective writing skills that will benefit them not only in future English courses, but in all academic areas.
