14 noviembre

 

Period 1 - Review for UNIT 1 TEST on Tuesday, 15 noviembre. 

Today I collected Post Card assignment.  We will begin a new

unit on the indigenous cultures of ancient America:  concentrating

on los Aztecas, los Maya, and los Inca.

 

Periods 6 and 7:  Spanish 1-  Finish up Capítulo 1 this week, Test on Wednesday. 

Begin Capítulo 2:  vocabulary in Notes, pp. 58-59.

 

Period 5: Spanish 2-  Finish Capítulo 5, los deportes.  Test on Tuesday.

Begin Capítulo 6, vocabulary in notes, pp. 196-7.  El bienestar, wellbeing.

This chapter will teach you how to talk about illness and wellness,

going to the doctor, and other related vocabulary.

 

Period 8:  Spanish 3-  Finish Capítulo 9, Test on Wednesday.

Begin Capítulo 10, En avión.  This chapter will focus on travel.

This week:

     Period 1- el mundo hispano-  (the Spanish-speaking world)-  We will discuss the countries of the 'mundo hispano'.  Each student will have the opportunity to research a country, point it out on a map, and report on their findings. 

     Period 4B- Finish skits- Watch them on the promethean board.  Talk about Columbus Day, and discuss why we celebrate it, what it means to people in the 'Mundo hispano', (the Spanish-speaking world).

     Period 5- Spanish 2-  Continue work on stem-changing verbs.  View recordings of sports clips. P. 172-3 Activity 6, 7, 8.  Computer Lab- work on video clip of sportscast.

     Period 6-7- Spanish 1- Work with adjectives, articles and nouns, agreement in gender and number.  Textbook, p. 33 Activities 5-6.  Quiz on Tuesday, vocabulary 2, and articles.  Textbook pp 34-37.  Activity 15.

     Period 8- Spanish 3-  Coninue studying the difference between saber and conocer: text p 309 Activities 6-9.  Quiz on Tuesday.  P. 311 comparisons activities 12-13.

Here's the latest:

     Period 1- Intro 8th grade-  We can describe each other!  ¿Quién es? Es guapa, rubia, y baja.  Ask your child to describe themself in Spanish.


     Period 4- 6th Grade- We can tell what clothing people are wearing.  Ask them ¿Qué lleva?  una blusa, un pantalón corto y una falda.

 

     Period 5-  Spanish 2 - Talking sports:  we will be discussing some sports news, giving a presentation as a news team.  Which will it be?  el béisbol, el tenis, el futbol americano o el baloncesto?

 

    

     Periods 6&7- Still reviewing some basics:  ¿Qué tiempo hace? frío o calor?  Lueve mucho en septiembre.  Cool

 

     Period 8 - Spanish 3 - Finished Pobre Ana, Poor Ana, (who found out she was not really poor at all when it came to the important things!).  We are back in the book, will be talking about shopping, la ropa (clothing) and tackling the past.

¡Hola!  Here's what's going on in Spanish:

Period 1- Intro, 8th grade-  We have been studying greetings, the numbers 1-30, telling the date,

                                        days of the week, and the months.  This week we are telling time. 

                                        Students are busy memorizing the pledge of alliegience in Spanish!

 

Period 4- 6th grade-  We learned classroom objects, and did mini-skits about back-to-school

                                 shopping.    This week we are learning clothing, and trying on different

                                 outfits, describing their size and color in Spanish. Next week we will discuss

                                 farm animals for fair week.

 

Period 5- Spanish 2, 10A-  In Spanish 2 we are exploring the world of sports, comparing el fútbol

                                       (soccer), with the American version, and other sports.  We are beginning

                                       to work on a news skit where we will bring the sports news to the

                                       classroom by doing  our own news reporting in Spanish.

Period 6&7- Spanish 1, 9th grade-  We are reviewing greetings, telling the date, numbers 1-100,

                                                    telling time and weather.  An upcoming project will involve

                                                    creating a class memory book, and the study of various

                                                    textile arts.

Period 8, Spanish 3, 11th&12th-  We are reading a novel, Pobre Ana, for review, and continuing in

                                                textbook, Así se Dice, to get back into the grammar, mastering

                                                the art of conversation in Spanish.  Students will begin

                                                Chapter 9 of the textbook next week, focusing on shopping

                                                and clothing vocabulary.

¡Bienvenidos! Welcome back!

I look forward to another year at Harmony (my 5th), and hope you do too!  We will be adjusting to a new schedule, and some other changes as well.  I hope your summer was refreshing and you had a chance to feed your spirit with fun, exercise, and experience.
