Art Grade Criteria

I am looking for the following: Follows Directions, Meets Requirements, Craftsmanship, Originality/Creativity, Design Principles/Elements, Teamwork- Communication, Attitude, and Attendance 

O=OUTSTANDING

Complete understanding of classroom rules and expectations

Exceptional effort and art skills when using media and supplies provided

Unique and original thoughts and ideas, excellent imagination, expressive

Complete understanding and use of art content (elements and principles)

Excellent Communication – Always contributes

Always has positive peer interaction

Always very helpful, positive, and considerate

Never/Rarely Absent each grading period. Always takes total responsibility for missed work.

VG=VERY GOOD

Very good understanding of the classroom rules and expectations

Above average effort and art skills when using media and supplies provided

Usually has original thoughts and ideas, often expressive

Very good understanding of art content (elements and principles) 

Very good communication- Often contributes to class

Often gets along with peers

Often helpful, positive, and considerate

Rarely Absent each grading period. Usually takes responsibility to make up missed work.

S=SATISFACTORY

Good understanding of the classroom rules and expectations

Good effort and art skills when using media and supplies provided

Sometimes has and uses original thought and ideas, expressive

Good understanding of art content (elements and principles) 

Good communication- sometimes contributes to class

Sometimes helpful or cooperative

A few absences each grade period. Sometimes tries to make up missed worked

NI-NEEDS IMPROVEMENT                        

Does not show understanding of some of the classroom rules and expectations

Needs improvement with effort and skills when using media and supplies provided

Rarely creates original ideas 

Does not show understanding of art content (elements and principles)   

No attempt to communicate – usually disinterested or uninvolved

Not very helpful or cooperative, usually disinterested or uninvolved

Sometimes argumentative or uncooperative.

Many absences each grading period. Often feels no responsibility to make up work missed.

U=UNSATISFACTORY

No use of the classroom rules and expectations

No effort or use of art skills

No use of original ideas-work and ideas possibly copied

No understanding of art content

Never attempts to communicate

Never gets along with peers

Always argumentative

Always absent from class, does not make up missed work or hand in a project
