Classes for Tomorrow: Journalism, Broadcasting and Television Production

Television Production: KnightLine News, a student run news program

At Academy Park High School, a unique program offers students to actually appear on the Air, run and create their own daily news program and cover breaking news within the school and communnity.  Moreover, KnightLine News is broadcast live to the community via Comcast Cable and Verizon FIOS.  Lasting from 10 to 15 minutes, this News Program contains both school and local community news, such as job offerings.  Entirely student run, KnightLine News has been on the air since 1986, one of the longest run student news program in the area.  It can also brag of having one of the highest rates of its students going onto a post-secondary education.

Students act as news reporters, gathering, revising and writing their own news stories, learn and work in a television studio using professional broadcasting grade equipment and self-critique the program.  Students are also expected to do four outside assignments, covering out of school activities and reporting upon them in KnightLine News.

Stuents need as a pre-requisite a completion of Broadcast Basics with a grade of "B" or better and upon invitation of the instructor.
