Educational Organizations That Play a Role in Best Practices in Education
1. National Institute of Education (NIE) - This organization published a book called Becoming a Nation of Readers. This book influenced the foundation for national academic standards (Anderson et al. 1985).
2. National Council of Teachers of Education (NCTE) - The national standards have been established by this organization.
3. International Reading Association (IRA) - This association issued definitive standards for reading in 1996. The associations began issuing books regarding standards and practices thereafter. Like the NCTE, the IRA played a role in establishing the national standards.
4. National Commission on Education and Economy (NCEE) - The NCEE has researched, examined, and cited numerous Best Practices in Language Arts.

5. National Board of Professional, Teaching Standards (NBPTS) - Attempts have been made to promote proficient teaching in language arts in the classroom; hence the standards are highly congruent with their believes of the IRA/NCTE. These standards cover writing, speaking, listening, technology, and higher-order thinking skills.
