Mrs. Gobert's Anatomy, Microbiology, Chemistry and Physics Classes

Course Descriptions

Environmental Science (10th grade)

The purpose of this course is to expose the students to various issues and topices dealing with the environment.  This course works hand in hand with the biology course that is offered during the 10th grade year.  This course is offered for two nine weeks three times a week.

Microbiology( 12th Grade)

This course offers a study of the normal body flora and of
microorganisms which cause disease in humans.
Each student, upon completion of the course, will understand which
microbes cause disease, the mechanisms of transmission and infection, the
response of the body to the disease, and the means to prevent, diagnose and
treat the disease.  The laboratory
instruction will help the students to identify different types of bacteria.

Prerequisite:  Final grade of 85% in Biology and Chemistry
or teacher recommendation

Anatomy (12th Grade)

Students will explore each system of the human body through various
laboratory experiments and the dissection of a cat.  Upon completion of this course students
should have a good foundation for college level anatomy courses.

Prerequisite:  Final grade of 85% in Biology and Chemistry
or teacher recommendation

College Prep Chemistry (11th grade)

The purpose of the course is to expose the first year chemistry students to the
basic chemical principles which must be mastered in order for students to
succeed in an introductory college level chemistry class. Upon successful
completion of this course a student will have a thorough foundation in
theoretical and descriptive chemistry along with problem solving abilities.

Honors Chemistry (11th grade)

The purpose of the course is to be exposed to the chemical principles which must be
mastered in order for students to succeed in a college level chemistry class.
Upon successful completion of this course a student will have a thorough
foundation in theoretical and descriptive chemistry along with problem solving
abilities.

Honors Physics (12th grade)

The purpose of this course is to help the student acquire an awareness
of preparing/performing experiments, defining scientific terms and solving
various problems using formulas and graphs.
Science education helps students to recognize the critical importance of
scientific advancements in today’s society.
Therefore, this science course makes the students more knowledge about
the scientific world around them.
