Introduction to Elementary General Music

The majority of our music class time is spent learning basic music theory, reading basic rhythms via playing classroom percussion instruments, and exploring melody and harmony by writing and performing their own music. The classroom assignments are designed to be simple and fun so that the students can explore and discover the elements through active participation in the creation of music.

My Classroom has a variety of percussion instruments, including a vibraphone, a piano, keyboard, drum set Timpani and other percussion instruments. The students are often engaged in music by using these instruments to learn how to read music and write music.

I also teach music history. Specifically the Classical period, Romantic period, and 20th century American music (jazz, blues, and rock).
