Welcome to Mr. Shinton's About Me. The 2019-2020 school year will be my 14th year as a teacher in the Easton Area School District. This will be my 2nd year as the Librarian at Paxinosa Elementary School. Prior to coming to Paxinosa, I taught 4th grade at Cheston Elementary School for 8 years and 2nd / 4th grades at Forks Elementary School. Before becoming a teacher, I worked for Guardian Life Insurance Company where I was responsible for many aspects of product development and product support.
During the 2019-20 school year, I will be including The 2nd Step strategies into the the lessons that I will be teaching in the Library. Please follow me on Twitter @EASDPaxLibrary because it will keep you current on the events happening in our Library.
Additionally, I have some of my non-classroom responsibilities in the district. I was elected to be the teacher representative on the district's Professional Development Planning Team (CPEC). I am an Elementary Techspert helping classroom teachers with technology concerns. In the fall, I am a volunteer coach for the Easton High School & Middle School Cross Country programs.
Personally, I have a passion for fitness. I am an American Council on Exercise certified Group Fitness Instructor and I have been teaching group fitness classes since 1988. Currently, I am teaching Cycle and TRX classes at Lehigh Valley Health Network and Valley Wellness Center. Previously, I taught Body Conditioning, Step, TRX and Cardio Aerobics classes at Lehigh Valley 24/7 Fitness Centers.
