Mrs. Williams 4th Grade Website

Communication Between Home and School

Ways I will keep the communication lines open:

  1. Websites: Visit this website for any information from this packet or for news about the classroom.
  2. Seesaw: We will be using this for the majority of home/school communication this year. Be sure to sign up!
  3. Calls/emails: If there is a major concern or question that I may have about your child’s behavior or academic progress I will call or email you.

**I prefer communicating with parents via Seesaw or email. It is more convenient and confidential during the busy school day.

      4. Notes: I may also use your child’s agenda book as a means of getting notes to you about your child’s progress and/or behavior in school.   It would be good  if  someone could check the agenda book every night.
***These notes must be signed by a parent or guardian so I can verify that they have been read.

      5. Tests: Few formal tests will be given. Instead, your child will be assessed based on their everyday performance and class work. If at any time you would like  to see your child’s assessment folder you may send a note in with your child requesting to see it. I just ask that it be returned within the next two days. I will send home any graded assignments in a “test packet” to be signed and returned almost every week. They will come home usually on a Tuesday and must be brought back signed by Thursday.

      6. Out-N-Back Packs: Important papers from the office or from me will be sent home on Tuesdays and Fridays in the front pocket of your child's green  homework folder. Please be sure to check your child's folder on Tuesdays and Fridays. Any important papers or notes should be placed here as well.

Ways YOU can keep the communication lines open:

You can assist by providing me with any information that will help in better understanding your child's needs. Some things I am interested in include, but are not limited to:

  • Recent experiences that may be affecting your child’s state of mind(death in the family, a best friend moving away, loss of a pet, divorce, etc)
  • Study or homework habits at home
  • After-school activities
  • Feelings toward school
  • Conflicts among peers or family members
  • Confusion about an assignment and/or something we are learning

Although I am interested in anything that could be affecting your child, it is not necessary for you to reveal personal information. However, please know that anything you do tell me will be kept in the strictest confidence.
