Important Information

Supplies Needed:  (If you have any trouble obtaining these items, please send in a note or email me as soon as possible)

1 box of tissues

1 spiral notebook

Homework:  Homework is essential for practice and a good way for me to see if your child understands the material. Written homework should take about 20-40 minutes each night.  I have no problem if your child seeks your help with homework, but if you notice that your child is struggling and cannot complete the homework correctly without your guidance, please leave a small note on the homework paper just to let me know.  In fourth grade, a missed assignment results in losing all recess privileges to complete the work and fined $20.00 from their Panther Purse. (see p. 7)  If it becomes a daily problem, parents will be contacted and some privileges might be taken away.

Homework Folders:  I have provided each student with a GREEN homework folder that should be taken home every night whether or not they have homework.  In each folder there will be some helpful tips for studying, study guides for tests, and/or other homework practice sheets.

Forgetting Homework at School: There may be a time when your child forgets an assignment at school, but please don’t bring them here to retrieve it.  In fourth grade, I am trying to teach my students more independence and responsibility in preparation for the Middle School.   By not bringing them to school, they will have to face the consequence the next day and in the future become more responsible.  I thank you for your cooperation.

Tests: Sometimes I will announce a formal test about a week in advance. For these types of assessments, I will either make a study guide or review in class what will be on the test.  It is suggested that your child studies a little each night the week before the test.  If you notice your child struggling with a particular concept, skill or new material, please don’t hesitate to let me know ASAP.  Don’t frustrate yourselves trying to reteach it!  Spelling and Vocabulary tests are every day 5.  New words will be assigned on every day 1.

Birthday Treats:  Please do not send any food for a birthday treat into school as per the new district wellness policy. Items such as pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. are allowed, but not necessary.
