COURSE SYLLABUS
SUBJECT: 8th Grade Earth & Space Science
TEACHER: Mr. Yeckley
LENGTH OF COURSE: Full Year @ 5 classes per week

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Earth Science offers insight into the environment on earth and the earth's environment in space. While presenting the concepts and principles essential to students' understanding of the dynamics and history of the earth, this course will explore geography, geology, meteorology and astronomy. Extra emphasis will be put on astronomy to take advantage of the districts planetarium.
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS:
1st Offense: 15 pushups or write-up
2nd Offense: 30 pushups or write-up
3rd Offense: 45 pushups or write-up
4th + Offense: Mandatory write-up
4. Participate to the best of your ability in all classroom activities
5. Maintain safety at all times, please remember at times you will be working with expensive and potentially dangerous supplies, I expect you to enter and exit the classroom in an orderly fashion
7. Laptops are a privilege and you will be given the opportunity to use them in our classroom, please review the student handbook for rules about the laptops
**HOMEWORK POLICY**
No late work will be accepted. If you are present on the day the assignment is given but absent on the day that it is due then it is expected that you will turn in the assignment the day of your return.
If you are absent on a day that an assignment is given, your work will be placed in a folder in the back of the classroom. You will have as many days as you were absent to turn in homework. (Ex: Absent for 2 straight days, you will have 2 days from when you return to hand in the work).
GRADING SYSTEM:
Everything that is done in class will count toward your grade(s) (Exams, quizzes, labs, projects, participation, class work, and homework).
A=100-92% B=91-83% C=82-76% D=75-70% F=69-0%
Your grades will be posted on ProgressBook.
