Hello Family!

I am Kathy Kupchella and my homeroom is 101!

 This year I will be teaching MATH to all 4th and 5th graders at Jackson Elementary.  Our school is departmentalizing in grades four and five.  The student will switch classes daily.  They will have me (Mrs. Kupchella) for Math,   Mrs. Burkey for Science,  Mrs. Deitle for Reading and Mrs. Hillegass for Social Studies and Writing.


In an effort to help the students with organization each class will be color coded. 

MATH will be blue,         READING will be red,          SCIENCE will be green,        SOCIAL STUDIES will orange, WRITING will be yellow

Each student will have binder that has a folder for each subject.  They will also have a folder for  homework and a daily planner.   PLEASE check planners every night!


4th & 5th Graders will have an interactive math notebook in their binder, please use this valuable resource to help with homework, daily review,  and practice.  


DAILY SCHEDULE:

8:20 the students arrive school    

as students arrive they have the option of eating breakfast at school,   please note breakfast is NOT available on two hour delay days

8:50   MATH   4th grade Kupchella

10:00  students will go to their daily special class

10:45 - 11:45   MATH  4th grade Burkey

11:45 - 12:15 LUNCH

12:15 - 1:15  MATH  5th grade Deitle

1:15 - 2:15  MATH  5th grade Hillegass

2:15 - 2:45 RTI      Response To Intervention,   students will work in small groups during this half hour time period, the groups for RTI will change throughout the year and students often work with different teachers during RTI

2:45 - 3:15  RECESS   students will go outside for recess, please dress accordingly

practice,   students should be fluent in their math facts by the beginning of 4th grade

notebooks,  these are a great resource, use them to practice and review
